The Boy On Our Fridge: Our Compassion Canada Experience
In 2018, we had an opportunity to visit one of our Compassion kids in the Philippines. We put together this mini documentary to invite you to experience our trip with us. We’ve been sponsoring kids through Compassion Canada since 2016. The kids we sponsor have become very special to us. By writing letters to each other, we are able to encourage and tell them that they are loved and cared for.
Poverty is complex. The impacts are more far-reaching than just disease, physical hunger or lack of money. Poverty can strip away a child’s dignity and make them feel like they do not matter. Most importantly, they can miss out on the wonderful news that they were each created in the image of our almighty God.
We chose Compassion because they are child focused, church based, and Christ-centred. They focus on the development of the child including their spiritual and relational growth. They partner with local churches and empower them to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. They encourage the kids to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Compassion’s approach to tackling poverty is long-term and complete. They address the needs of the child, by focusing their program around 4 core areas in the children's development: spiritual growth, education, relational development and health.
Today, we encourage you to sponsor a child by going to Compassion Canada. If you’re already a sponsor, would you consider adding another sponsored child to your family?
We hope you feel inspired to make a difference in the world.
